BHT Records, Eb+Flo Records and NavPress, announce the release of "The Message: Psalms," an eclectic and stirring album of songs inspired by the best-selling Bible paraphrase, The Message. The album accompanies the release of the much-anticipated Message: Numbered Edition on October 11th.
Produced by Monroe Jones (Chris Rice, Third Day) and Phillip LaRue, "The Message: Psalms" contains original songs using lyrics taken directly from Psalms in The Message. The project was designed to allow listeners to experience the words of the Bible in a modern and relevant way. "The Message: Psalms" features a wide range of artists such as Chris Rice, Shawn McDonald, Kendall Payne, Rachel Lampa, Over The Rhine, Building 429, Venus Hum with Ginny Owens, Matt Wertz, Dave Barnes, Sarah MacIntosh, Phil Wickham, and John David Webster. Major radio campaigns are already underway with the release of the first single “Flag” by Rachel Lampa (Word Records).
"Working on this project was an incredible experience," said Phillip LaRue, co-producer of "The Message: Psalms." "Monroe Jones is an incredible friend and producer. Partnering with him and the incredible artists was a real treat. It was amazing to watch an idea that the Lord inspired in my heart years ago actually come to fruition. Everyone involved gave 100% to the heart of the project. We all wanted to represent The Message to the best of our ability."
"Our team set out to provide a fresh forum to imbibe timeless, naked truth that is evident in this sacred scripture," stated Scott Parker, VP of A&R for BHT Records. "Eugene Peterson has brought it to life in such an amazing, lyrical way, so we just hoped to build on that. This isn't just another compilation. It is more accurately an environment, a little planet, you can visit for about an hour, and bathe in the pools of scripture."
The Message, a modern paraphrase of the Bible, has over 10 million readers. The translator, Eugene Peterson approached the project with a heart full of passion for the Gospel, a lifetime of familiarity with the Greek Scriptures and 35 years as a pastor. Eugene translated The Message to convey the original intent of the Bible, which was first written in the language of the people––of fishermen, shopkeepers, and carpenters. The Message: Numbered Edition, releases October 11th and has been completely redesigned to include an exclusively designed verse numbering system, a lighter and thinner product, handcrafted maps and charts, and a new lower price.
"The Message: Psalms is a natural extension of The Message," said Mike Kennedy, Director of Marketing for NavPress. "We're pleased to partner with BHT Records and Eb+Flo Records for this event."
